SOURCE: Gene Hamilton/BetterRide

For Immediate Release

BetterRide with Gene Hamilton ups the ante again by joining forces with Marla Streb to put on the best mountain bike skills coaching in the US.

Baltimore, MD: The BetterRide Mountain Bike Camp will take place on June 2-4, 2007. This camp is limited to ensure the optimal athlete coach ratio of 7 to 1. This is an amazing opportunity to learn from the most experienced mtb skills coach in the US and one of the most talented racers in the sport.

Marla has recently started joining Gene as a guest coach in his BetterRide camps. Their first camp together sold out and was a big hit with the riders.

“My first run down the mountain was on a trail that I had ridden many times before. Gene was following me half way down (to see if I was really paying attention) and it was my best run ever!!! That one run alone was worth the fee for the clinic, I was so impressed with what I had learned so far! And talking about someone that knows, the highlight of the clinic (how about my life) for me was getting several chances to ride behind Marla. She is so fast and makes it look so easy it’s almost like watching a ballerina on a bike it was amazing and very helpful for me.” -Chris Shelley

Designed for recreational riders and racers, this is a fun and informative mountain bike skills camp. Improve your skills, gain confidence and enjoy your riding and/or racing! Start beating your friends and/or drop 2-6 minutes an hour off your race times.

When: June 2-8, 2007
Where: Baltimore, MD
Who: 14 lucky riders

Information: BetterRide or phone (970) 261-1869

Can’t make the camp with Marla? BetterRide has camps throughout the year, please visit our website for dates and locations.

About BetterRide: Gene Hamilton founded BetterRide in 1998 to provide structured, professional mtb skills coaching to cyclists of all ages and skill levels. Gene is a licensed USA Cycling Expert Coach and has over 17 years of coaching experience including 12 years teaching mountain biking. Entering his 12th season as a pro downhill racer his career highlights include winning a Silver (2002) and two Bronze Medals (1999, 2006) at the UCI World Masters Championships.

South Surrey, BC……SORCE (Surrey Off Road Cycling Enthusiasts Society) and the Surrey Parks and Recreation Department regularly sponsor clinics and camps for cyclists at all levels, for all age groups and styles of riding.

A new course for 2007 is the Women’s Shore Style Clinic. This clinic spans three Saturday mornings beginning March 3rd, meeting at the South Surrey Bike Park, and is designed for the experienced beginner to intermediate mountain biker, aged 16 years and over.

Do you want to learn how to get over roots and logs in all weather conditions? Do you want to be comfortable and confident descending rock faces and stairs? Are you curious about skinnies, drops, jumps and ‘The Shore’? If so, this 3 day camp is for you! It will help take your riding to the next level. We will focus on skills training, balance and ‘spotting the perfect line’. This is a women’s only clinic, taught by experienced female riders who are NCCP certified coaches. The atmosphere is fun and supportive.

Join other women for this mountain bike skills clinic. Consider signing up & bring a friend! The cost is only $48.25 for all three sessions! This is the price for a one day session so you are getting three times the value. The proceeds benefit a great cause – SORCE bike club’s trail stewardship.

Wow! What a weekend! First off, thank you to all of the Bunnies who volunteered at the Gear Swap both in Vancouver and North Vancouver and to all girls who volunteered their time at the BunnieBooth. Great job everybody!

Wazzap! Colleen Keyland was stoked to be volunteering at the Gear Swap.

This year’s show proved to be better than the last with Danger Dan Cowan’s Flowriders sending it huge for a captivated audience. It was indeed the most extravagant, extensive, exciting, extreme & entertaining bike event showcasing extreme biking including; jumping, tricks, balancing & big drops!! In addition to their travelling circus, the flowriders offered up a free seminar on “How to ride skinnies” AND a MiniFlowShow Contest where up and coming rippers had their chance to send it while gathering a bit of fame and glory…and in some cases a bit of gory-glory too!

Flowrider Andrew Biker stickin’ it to us!

One of the new features for the 2007 show was the NSMBA Vancouver Bike Swap, which has become the largest swap of it’s kind in Western Canada! The 2007 swap took place on the event floor during show hours. The best news is that all money raised will go to the NSMBA who maintain trails of all types on the North Shore! We’ll wait to hear what the grand total of money raised was from the NSBMA.

Kelli, Darren and all the folks from Endless Biking put on a FREE skills camp for riders aged 5-14. They also had a booth at the show offering info on upcoming skills camps/clinics and lessons.

Our Races seem to always land on holidays! We just finished the indoor 4x series on St Valentines day, so whats next? A heads up pump race on St Paddys! Come on out to Pipeline Bike Park on Saturday March 17th for a really fun event. Pipeline Pump Races involve a seeding round which consists of a stand alone time trial on the pump track followed by a dual elimination race that puts riders in a pursuit, head to head, until the final.

Pipeline St.Paddy’s Day Twoonie Race

The racing is tight and involves many photo finishes. And…oh yeah…you’re not allowed to pedal… That’s right, you have to make it around the track by pumping only! Pedal strokes result in added seconds or complete disqualifications. This type of racing is super fun and trains your riding to increase bike handling and finesse. Come on out to the race! Bring a twonie! Wear Green! Race is sponsored by Fox racing and Kona Bikes.

Get out and race Bunnies!!! Let’s have a Muddbunnies take-over at this twoonie race and give the boys some competition!
